Bent Object of my Affection: everyday objects act out love in a book by Terry BorderA new book sees household objects and food acting out funny, and sometimes risqué, scenes. Artist Terry Border has used items such as cutlery, books and playing cards to create a world he calls Bent Objects. In his new book he has posed his creations to "express the many wonders of and reasons for love".
Bent Object of My Affection employs clever use of wire to convey emotion through inanimate objects, with each picture paired with puns.
I Like it When We Spoon - We fit so well together
Explaining how he got started on his quirky hobby, Indiana-based Terry explains: "I don't know what I was thinking. I took a toolbox from my grandfather after he died, and one day I started twisting a coil of wire that was inside. I just started making shapes. After a few months, I began getting good at this."
Undercover - I love your appeal
"I doodle situations to figure the best poses to show my idea," says Terry. "I picture people in the situation here, and how they would react. How many characters are needed? I want as few as possible, so I can boil the story down to it's most important elements. For example, if I want leaves to be characters, I need to pick ones that I can add arms and legs to and make it look somewhat believable."
